If there's someone you think might be interested—and that I would like—please send me an email. I will work from Iceland from 23 September until 25 October 2021. If you feel like coming out to cowork for a bit, get in touch. According to me, the best things about Reykjavík are: 1. Daily swims: outdoors, with cold pools and warm pools and very hot pools and saunas. Available 6am-10pm, [the neighborhood pool everyone loves](https://photos.app.goo.gl/c3hJDRhFqg8NZvw57). 2. Daily walks: mountains and sea. Sometimes snow. 3. The light is incredible, especially in the autumn. 4. Village life: there are a couple of good cafes, you'll recognise the regulars in no time. 5. Sea swimming: yes, it's cold. But there's a hot pool by the sea. 6. Iceland is the kind of place where RUV 2, the national broadcaster, will randomly play _Smells Like Teen Spirit_ during their afternoon lineup, because whatever, 90s music wasn't all bad, contemporary music is mostly trash, Nirvana is Lindy. You can also, of course, leave Reykjavík. And then you're in Iceland. There's an active volcano within a 45 minute drive. You can walk right up to it. There are hot rivers. There is wilderness, and glaciers. Did I mention snow? For the full retreat experience, I'll spend a couple days, perhaps a week, in [Fljótsdalur](https://www.hostel.is/hostels/fljotsdalur-hi-hostel). Once a farmhouse, now a hostel, just opposite [Eyjafjallajökull](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyjafjallaj%C3%B6kull). Good library. Good hiking. Northern lights. Hot pool nearby, naturally. Sleeps 10 (but we'll be the only guests, most likely). Maybe we'll also go to Hofsós, in the north. [The pool looks good](https://www.google.com/search?q=hofsos+pool&sxsrf=AOaemvKaxSKMDhN_SKCtE75rlERj_eBo5g:1632685957696&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjt36aUtZ3zAhUFhv0HHRv3Cs0Q_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1792&bih=915&dpr=2), so does [this place](https://www.booking.com/hotel/is/kolkuos.en-gb.html?aid=356938&label=metagha-link-MRIS-hotel-1673702_dev-desktop_los-1_bw-28_dow-Sunday_defdate-1_room-0_gstadt-2_rateid-0_aud-0_gacid-6623578704_mcid-10_ppa-0_clrid-0_ad-1_gstkid-0_checkin-20211024_lp-1007962_r-8068801402022765822&sid=ee03e99dece3d4f16954c061e5c74aca&all_sr_blocks=167370204_140594298_0_2_0&checkin=2021-10-24&checkout=2021-10-25&dest_id=900055926&dest_type=city&dist=0&group_adults=2&group_children=0&hapos=1&highlighted_blocks=167370204_140594298_0_2_0&hpos=1&no_rooms=1&room1=A%2CA&sb_price_type=total&sr_order=popularity&sr_pri_blocks=167370204_140594298_0_2_0__11229&srepoch=1632684752&srpvid=fac18967bf9a01a5&type=total&ucfs=1&activeTab=photosGallery). Autumn is the best time of year to visit Iceland—for colours, weather, lack of tourists. Some catches: 1. Iceland is expensive. 2. Car hire is very expensive at the moment, due to global shortage. 1. If you ask nicely, you can maybe borrow my aging Fiat Panda. 3. You'll probably have to arrange your own accomodation. [AirBnB](https://www.airbnb.co.uk/s/Reykjav%C3%ADk/homes?tab_id=home_tab&refinement_paths%5B%5D=%2Fhomes&flexible_trip_dates%5B%5D=october&date_picker_type=flexible_dates&flexible_trip_lengths%5B%5D=one_week&source=structured_search_input_header&search_type=filter_change) or [Kex Hostel](https://www.kexhostel.is/) are the places to look first. 1. I have a sofabed someone can crash on for a few days—maybe a week or two if I really like you. 4. If you want a fixed desk in an office somewhere, you'll have to arrange it yourself. Sadly Reykjavík's [best coworking space](https://twitter.com/reykjavikcowork) closed down some years ago, due to bad management. Maybe the people at [IMX](https://www.icelandmusic.is/) have space. The cafe at [Perlan](https://www.google.com/search?q=perlan+cafe&sxsrf=AOaemvKTsi1BMujwOBwLzp-a_jrlwP6oMw:1632686130045&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjqh77mtZ3zAhX2_rsIHWfbDTsQ_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1792&bih=915&dpr=2) is extremely quiet these days, and has panoramic views. And there's always [Minør Coworking](https://www.minorcoworking.com/), the university library, or the many laptop-friendly cafes that open til late. Not a catch, but a warning: I will work 6 days / week, I might take 2-3 extra days off. I always have time for fun, but I will also be busy, [working](https://notes.pjh.is/_02021+Amble+3+%E2%80%93+Plan)—not on holiday, not your tour guide. If you're interested, write to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or suggest a time to speak: https://pjh.is/call ### Who else might be there? Hopefully I'll persuade several people to come out to visit, at roughly the same time. I will try to make good combinations. No idea how many people I know might want or be able to do something like this at short notice—perhaps it'll just be me. You can bring a +1, a partner, your family if you have one. I don't have enough friends in Reykjavík—hence this advert. But the people I do know are nice. An events guy, a radio guy, some philosophy-types, some artist-types. You know. ## Wondering what this might look like? [Some of my holiday snaps](https://photos.app.goo.gl/aghZ2goXxW3pZSds6). Up to and including ping pong, they were taken over the years in central Reykjavík (mostly Vesturbær). The last half a dozen are from Fljótsdalur.
